All the secretaries and majors from all cities of Guangdong province had attended the science and technology innovation meeting which was presided by the governor Xiaodan Zhu and hold in Gu town of Zhongshan city on July 19^th, 2012. It conveyed the spirit of national science and technology innovation, deployed the provincial science and technology innovation, accelerated the transformation and upgrading of professional town. Wang Yang, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee attended the meeting and made a important speech. Ningsheng Xu, the President of our school attended the meeting.

        Wang Yang pointed out that  the national conference on science and technology innovation rising the reform of scientific research in our country, which has a far-reaching influence and significance. Base on this meeting, we should further implement the strategy of innovation, enhance the confidence and determination, seize the opportunities and strive for an innovative province.

       During the meeting, Ningsheng Xu and Wang Yang visited the semiconductor lighting technology research center located in sun yat-sen university (Gutown), and understanding the successful cooperation experience in transformation and upgrading between colleges or universities and professional town.

       Jiansheng Chen reported to Wang Yang and Xiaodan Zhu on the construction of the center where was set by the sun yat-sen university and Gu town based on strategic cooperation of school and town, which facing transformation and upgrading of Gu town, and also is the science and technology innovation service platform to small and medium-sized enterprise.GU town is the lighting center of China, in the process of tranformation and upgrading from the traditional to the modern lighting industrial cluster, especially in the field of semiconductor lighting industry, it encountered difficulties such as lack of professional and technical personnel, insufficient in scientific and technological innovation ability. However, Sun yat-sen university has a large number of domestic and foreign famous experts and scholars as well as the lighting enterprises such as Joinmax company who focus on Semiconductor lighting. Therefore, using the so call with Guangdong characteristics ” one college one town" cooperation mode and seting up the public service platform for enterprises will be more quickly and effectively to collect science and technology innovation elements into the Gu town, all of those will be benefit to promote the innovation level of technology for lighting industry science and technology innovation level, improve the combination with the university’s technology and local economy, push town industrial cluster change into emerging industry.

        Wang Yang and Xiaodang Zhu affirmed with such mode of cooperation and expected the Sun yat-sen university (Gu town) semiconductor lighting technology research center to make achievements, realize the combination of colleges and universities, make full use of university resources to speed up the transformation and upgrading to the professional town.
